My work is a means to have a conversation with myself. My work is a little piece of me and my psyche, I embody it. I mainly work in multimedia and I usually start with a face. I am mesmerized and obsessed with the anatomy of the face. Once the face is down, I begin to work on the world around it. I don't like to plan too heavily beforehand. I like to go with the flow and see where the colors and textures take me. Bringing in influences from my Mexican heritage. I want to keep a balance in my work between having it looking too pretty or too abstract. If something is too pretty it seems unauthentic to me. If something is too undistinguishable, I feel I cannot connect to it. Once a piece feels done, I step back, analyze the piece, and create a narrative that applies to me at that moment. Everyone is encouraged to do the same. My work is always open for interpretation. I love the idea of my work being perceived differently through everyone's diverse perspectives and hearts.
